Adoption
For many of Minnesota's children, returning to their family of origin is no longer an option. North Homes, Inc. is one of ten private, not-for-profit agencies participating in the Public/Private Adoption Parternership Initiative (PPAI). Adoption is a legal and emotional acceptance into a family of child not born to that family. To assure a positive transition for the entire family, North Homes, Inc. offers an array of services as well as community support to assist children and their adoptive families through and beyond the finalization of their adoption. North Homes, Inc. works with the Minnesota Department of Human Services to recruit and train families who wish to adopt. We work with social service agencies to help find adoptive homes for children in need of a "forever family".
All children in out of home placement require a permanency plan. These children are both male and female, ranging in age from birth to 18 years, with most being school age. These children are uncertain of their future, reacting to the present and separated from thier families. Sometimes they come as part of a sibling group. Sometimes they come in alone. More than 50 percent are ethnic minorities. No matter how they come or where they come from, North Homes, Inc. Adoption Program offers these children:
- Child Placement Services
- Foster Parent Adoptions
- Sibling Preparation
- Children's Therapeutic Services and Supports (CTSS)
- Prepartion of Life Books
- Relative and Kinship Adoption
- Transitional and Post-Placement Services
- Innovative Support Services
