Teens Moving Foward
Teens Moving Forward is a program providing independent living skills to teenage boys 16 to 21. The house is owned by Travis Malterud, who started the Teens Moving Forward program, and it is located in north Bemidji. It is a spacious split level home with three bathrooms, two and a half baths, two living areas and an office. Travis has been working with at-risk youth in both detention and treatment facilities for approximately 10 years. He enjoys helping young people and providing them with guidance. There is also plenty to do at the house including outdoor recreation, team sports, individual sports, movie nights, board games, darts, bowling and camp fires.
Some areas of focus of the Teens Moving Forward program are:

- School will be monitored closely through district 31 parent portal
- Financial/Money Management
- Includes opening savings accounts, checking accounts, budgeting, housing expenses etc.
- Employment Training
- Assist with filling out applications, resume building interview skills, and seeking job opportunities in the community
- Accessing Community Resources
- Household Maintenance
- Learn how to develop a healthy living environment; education, cleanliness; food and nutrition
- Housing
- Education and hands-on training about potential housing options
