culture and diversity

Given our service area, we recognize the responsibility we have to Native American youth and families. North Homes Children & Family Services staff, foster parents and professionals strive to reinforce and reacquaint Native American youth served by making available and offering the following:

  • Cultural groups
  • Native American crafting and art
  • On site sweat lodge
  • Smudging and giving of tobacco
  • Community pow-wows & ceremonies
  • Community language tables
  • ICWA approved foster parents
  • Foster parent cultural diversity education symposiums
  • Diversity in the composition of our staff and professionals
  • Treatments based on culturally diverse research

At North Homes, we are continually striving to enhance opportunities for all beliefs, cultures and orientations. By bringing diversity in all forms, youth and families have an increased sense of belonging and build positive relationships with one another and staff. North Homes honors and celebrates diversity and individuality of all children and families.

Youth, staff and area tribal members came together to learn and experience the building of a sweat lodge at North Homes.
